Functional Nutrition Programs

Hormones control your metabolism, and impact your health.

We offer patients in-office specialty testing, nutrition programs to help balance the gut-hormone connection that map actions to goals. Using this blueprint, patients can understand where their body is today and create an actionable plan that creates the level of wellness they choose.

Simply said: We don't guess--we test.

Our Approach to Improving Nutrition

Functional Nutrition Programs are custom designed for each individual client and start with a Body Composition Analysis (BCA).

Plan of action may include the use of Nutraceuticals (instead of Pharmaceuticals), various functional health methods, lifestyle and dietary modifications to get you the solutions you want and need.

A Body Composition Analysis involves a series of tests to measure the ratio of different tissues that comprises our bodies. These tests can provide crucial information, potentially revealing the following: the ratio of fat to lean muscle tissue, the percentage of water in the body, the metabolic rate (BMR), and BMI.

When muscle tissue increases through proper exercise and nutrition, all of these numbers will begin to change for the better. This proves to our clients that their focus on making changes is really worth the effort.

Our Plans Can Help Control Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases where the body's pancreas does not produce enough insulin or does not properly respond to insulin produced, resulting in high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period impact glucose levels, and if left untreated, can cause many complications.

Traditional medicine uses insulin to help Diabetics manage their blood sugar levels. The problem with using only medication is that insulin is a hormone and can cause long-term damage to the body.

At first, the insulin injections may appear to be working, and the patient's blood sugar levels drop. But over time, the body builds greater resistance to higher insulin levels, leading blood sugar levels to rise once again.

Insulin used this way has shown to have the side effects such as hormonal imbalance, unwanted weight gain, Cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, limb amputations, a higher risk of cancer - even death.

Our Proactive Approach to Diabetes

Alex Kassalias, DC starts with a body composition analysis to better understand what is going on within your body today. We'll review the results along with your health history to better understand you. When necessary, we'll order lab work to analyze your blood, urine and nutrition that help identify the deficiencies in your health.

Dr. K believes it is critical to look at WHY a person is diabetic, to determine the underlying causes. Only then are we able to help educate people on how to handle their diabetes more effectively.

We do not prescribe medication and will not take you off medications prescribed by your primary care physician, however we have helped many people reduce or eliminate their need to be on these medications.

We can uncover the nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and organ dysfunction that are associated with your disease. With this information, we can help you create an action plan to help you control your diabetes - and live a better life.
